Martinselkosen Eräkeskus wildlife centre is a family-owned company that started its operation in 1991. It is located in the municipality of Suomussalmi, right by Martinselkonen nature preserve and Finland's eastern border.
The wildlife centre operates in the old ‘Pirttivaara’ border guard station, closed in 1990 and remodelled to meet modern demands. In the wildlife centre, there are e.g. rooms, apartments, a cafeteria, dining services, a sauna and of course a smoke sauna with gentle vapours to enjoy at the end of the day.
We provide all year round accommodation and dining services as well as versatile nature programme services. In the summer we focus on animal watching and photography. We watch e.g. bears, moose, wolverines, black kites and white-tailed eagles. In the winter we provide excellent skiing and ice-jigging opportunities in Martinselkonen nature preserve. With our partner network we can arrange sled dog and ski trips.
The personnel of Martinselkonen welcomes You to have a good time in the wildlife centre and enjoy the nature experiences.
